Grand Opening

Mark your calendars… we are excited to announce that the P. Terry and Barbara Knight Park will open on Saturday, September 30, 2017. The City of Troy will be hosting a grand opening event to officially open the Daisy Knight Dog Park. Event details will be available in August.

If you’ve driven by the park recently you’ve probably noticed that the sidewalk and shared parking lot has been installed, the grass is growing, and the Stonecrest of Troy Senior Living Center is complete. This means we’re ready to begin procurement and installation of dog park amenities. In the upcoming months, we’ll be working to install fencing for multiple off-leash areas, install a park shelter, apply for tree planting grants, install pathways, and plan the ribbon cutting ceremony.

If you’ve donated $50 or more to the dog park, you’ll be receiving your Rovers Red Carpet Invite to the ribbon cutting ceremony later this summer as well as information regarding any other rewards associated with your donation level and membership information. If you still want to donate, don’t worry there’s still time!

In the upcoming months City of Troy staff will be working to develop membership guidelines for the dog park. Last month, we reached out to various individuals who attended the public forum held in 2014 or individuals who have contacted staff looking for ways to get involved in the dog park to ask their opinion on various rules and requirements for membership to the dog park. We welcome everyone to view the survey results. Please note that we greatly appreciated all of the feedback we’ve received and are taking all comments and results into consideration during the decision making process, but we are still working to formally adopt official set of membership guidelines.

So, save the date and get ready to celebrate the grand opening of the P. Terry and Barbara Knight Park with your four-legged friends on Saturday, September 30th! Check back throughout the summer for more information regarding membership to the Daisy Knight Dog Park and project updates.
