Do I need to live in Troy to participate in Troy's Fifty Plus programs?
The majority of programs are open to non-residents with the following exceptions: Residents only for Troy R.Y.D.E. transportation, SHARP home repair, Home Chore Program Assistance, and some free programs as stated in the program description listed in the Recreation Guide or Fifty Forward newsletter.
How old do I need to be to participate?
50+ programs are geared towards ages 50 and up, however adults of all ages are welcome to register. Exceptions would include a specific age requirement stated in the program description listed in the Recreation Guide or Fifty Forward newsletter.
Do I need to join as a member to participate in senior programs?
No. There is no additional membership fee to participate in programs.
What level of assistance do you provide for seniors attending programs at the Community Center?
- There are motorized wheelchairs available at most entrances to the Community Center.
- We welcome the participation of persons with disabilities in our programs and facilities. Please mark the “Accommodations Box” on your registration form when registering if you need special accommodations. To allow sufficient time to coordinate program inclusion and make reasonable accommodations, please register at least two weeks prior to the program start date. If I visit can I get a tour?
Yes. Staff will be happy to give you a tour of the Community Center where most Fifty Plus programs take place and also can answer your questions about the program. Please call 248.524.3484 to reserve a time or just drop-in for a tour.
What are your hours and how do I get there?
Current admin hours are 8 am–7 pm, Mon–Fri. The Community Center is located at 3179 Livernois, just north of Big Beaver on the west side of Livernois. Most Fifty Plus programs take place at the Community Center.
Are there volunteer opportunities?
We are not taking volunteers at this time due to the recent MDHHS restrictions. Check this page to see if we have any available in the future.
How is the Fifty Plus program funded?
The program is funded through the City of Troy's general fund and program fees. Contributions by local businesses, foundations, and individuals are also accepted.
