Photo Policy
Photographers commonly take pictures of Recreation Department activities, which are subsequently used in flyers, promotional materials, on our website, in Troy Recreation Guide, Troy Today, and by sponsors. If you prefer not to be included in such photos, please let the photographer know before he/she begins taking the pictures. Please note that all participants sign a waiver when registering for any Troy Recreation program or event.

Saturday, August 5 | 8 am–12 pm | Troy Family Aquatic Center
REGISTRATION OPENS TUESDAY, MAY 16 FOR RESIDENTS AND THURSDAY, MAY 18 FOR NON-RESIDENTS AT 8 AM.
Join other youth and 18+ novice racers to splash through the TFAC pool, and dash through the Huber Park Trail. Test your endurance and try for your best time! Registration includes sponsor expo, t-shirt, finisher’s medal, and professional timing. Prize packages will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group. Must have the ability to swim without assistance.** Event will take place rain or shine. Register by July 7 to guarantee preferred t-shirt size.

- Course maps will be available online in Mid-June.
- All participants must be in good health and confident to complete race activities independently.
- All participants must be able to swim independently with no use of floaties, kickboards, or other swim aides/devices. No snorkels are allowed.
- No parents/siblings/supporters/etc. may physically assist participant.
- No non-registered persons may swim and/or run alongside athletes during the race.
- Please note, we will have volunteers in the pool and along the course for safety and directing.
- Bathing suits must be worn in the pool and athletic shoes are required for the run portion.
- Body marking (race number written on arms in sharpie) will be completed by event staff/volunteers prior to race start and MUST be visible while swimming.
- Race numbers are to be worn on the FRONT of the shirt and MUST be visible while running.
- There will be an open transition area for racers to put towels, shoes, and any other clothing. NO PRIVATE CHANGING ROOMS ARE AVAILABLE. Please plan to wear a bathing suit that can have clothes comfortably placed over top of for the run.
- Athletes ONLY will be allowed in transition area, which will be marked with signs and/or flags.
- Timing chips MUST be worn for the entire race or an accurate time will not be recorded.
- Timing chips must be RETURNED at the finish line or a $15 fee will be charged to your account.
- *NOTE*If an athlete requires an ADA Accommodation for a disability in order to participate, please contact us at time of sign up at Adaptive@troymi.gov so that best accommodations can be made. Modifications to assistance levels may be provided due to disability.

- Swimmers will begin the race as follows:
- Prior to each starting time, racers will line up and enter the pool one at a time in 10-15 second intervals in the following order: Advanced swimmers, Intermediate swimmers, Beginner swimmers.
- PLEASE LOOK FOR EVENT SIGNS ON RACE DAY FOR WHERE TO LINE UP.
- It is important that you self-select based on correct skill level to make the event the safest and best experience for all participating.
- Please note the run is through Huber Park on trails – bug spray is recommended.
- Award prize packages will be given to the top 3 finishers in each age group. All finishers will receive a finisher’s medal.
- Saturday, August 5th at TFAC beginning at 8 AM.
- Look for signage and staff to direct.
- Parking maps will be available online by mid-June.
- Limited parking will be available in the Troy Family Aquatic Center (TFAC) parking lot.
- Overflow parking will be located at the following locations: Oakland County District Court north lot off of Town Center Dr.; Jeanne Stine Park; Troy Community Center – all are about a 5-10 minute walk to TFAC.
- DO NOT PARK IN THE TROY RACQUET CLUB PARKING LOT.
- If the race committee deems the conditions unsafe for racing, we will make our best effort to have a make-up race date. If the race cannot be rescheduled, a partial refund may be granted.
- If the event runs and an athlete chooses not to participate due to weather, no refunds or make-ups will be given.

2022 Doggie Splash

Thank you to all who attended! This event is held annually at the end of the Troy Family Aquatic Center season. We let the dogs splash and play before draining the pool. See photos from 2022 and look information in summer of 2023.

2022 Family Fall Fest
Family Fall Fest is a time when we invite all ages to join us for some Fall themed fun for the whole family at Jeanne M Stine Park (located on Town Center Dr, just north of the Community Center)! Pumpkin patch, inflatables, trick or treat trail, face painting, arts and crafts, cider and donuts are all included. Look for Registration for our 2023 Family Fall Fest next Fall 2023.

Yes, dogs on a leash are welcome.
Q: Do I need to register for the Pumpkin 1K if my child is running it?
No, only the individual running/walking needs to be registered.
Q: Can I register in person?
No, registration is online only: rec.troymi.gov/frightful5k
You may register in person on race day before we begin, though.

The 5K route will begin in the Community Center parking lot and run onto Livernois, then Big Beaver Rd. Race runs back onto Livernois and into Civic Center campus before finishing again in the Community Center parking lot. Mile markers will be in place.

2023 Blackthorn Concert
After a break since 2019, Blackthorn—one of the most popular Irish-American Bands—is making their way back to the stage. This is a great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Join us for our family Valentine’s dance! All family members welcome: parents, guardians, or a special someone. Make memories and dance the night away. The night will include:

2023: Adaptive Disc Golf Derby
Learn all about Disc Golf: how to throw a disc, rules, and techniques for all levels and abilities! Play on a 9-hole course with a buddy, or do putting games with a group. Take-home player packs, including discs and other goodies, for all registered players. Refreshments provided on-site by sponsors.
